What to write about
Anything at all — but these are the ones we act on fastest.
- A number looks wrong. Tell us the state, the salary and what your own payslip says. Tax rules change mid-year and states revise their withholding guides, so this is the most useful message we can get.
- A state is missing. We add states one at a time, because each one needs its own withholding formula checked against that state's tax authority. Tell us which one you need and it moves up the queue.
- A correction to the tax data. If you work in payroll and something here does not match the guide you use, we want to know. Point us at the source and we will fix it.
- Anything else — partnerships, licensing the data, press, or a question the site does not answer.
What we cannot do
We are not accountants and this site is not tax advice. We cannot tell you what to put on your W-4, whether to change your withholding, or how to handle a specific tax situation. For that, talk to a tax professional who can see your full picture.
What we can do is explain how a figure on this site was worked out, and point you at the 2026 source it came from.
Where the numbers come from
Federal withholding follows IRS Publication 15-T for 2026. FICA rates and the Social Security wage base come from the IRS and the Social Security Administration. Each state's rates come from that state's own tax authority, and the source is linked on every state page.
